Drug & Alcohol Policy

The use of alcohol & drugs constitutes a significant risk to the individual employee concerned and to his colleagues, it contributes to impaired productivity and job performance, increased accidents and injuries, violations of security, loss of company property and diminished employee morale.
Risks to third parties and to the environment are thereby also significantly increased. Therefore, the policy of Africa Company for Oilfield Services (AFCO), is focused on:
Forbid consumption of alcohol

Forbid the consumption of alcohol within all the company worksites.

Take disciplinary action

Decline the recruitment of persons with evidence records of alcohol and drug abuse.

Take disciplinary action

Take disciplinary action against employees who fail to observe this policies.

Assist employees in treatment

Assist employees in the treatment for dependency on alcohol and or drugs

Drug Tests

In the event that any employees or drivers are to be assigned to any safety or environmentally sensitive operational activities or positions/functions, they may be required to undergo testing for alcohol or drugs abuse prior to their taking up such assignments or from time to time during such assignments.

Share Test Results

Subject to relevant local legislation, such employees may also be required to consent to the disclosure of such test results to certain third parties as the company considers necessary in its best interests.
